June is Men’s Health Month (MHM) and the focus is to improve awareness, knowledge, and treatment of health issues that affect men and boys. During Men’s Health Month, encourage your husband, father, son, or significant other to schedule his annual checkup today!
Did you know:
-Men are dying an average of 5 years younger than women?
-Men lead in 9 of the top 10 causes of death?
-Men have a higher suicide rate than women?
MedsPLUS wants to equip and empower men to take charge of their health. How?
1. Schedule a check up with a healthcare provider. It is important to see your doctor regularly even if you don’t feel sick. Many serious health conditions don’t have symptoms.
2. Adopt healthy habits. A healthy diet and regular physical activity can help maintain a healthy weight, lower blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
3. Learn family history. Talk to your family about which diseases may run in your family. Many of these inherited diseases can be delayed or even prevented with timely intervention.
4. Receive preventative care. Use the myHealthfinder tool at www.healthfinder.gov for personalized recommendations on clinical preventative services.
